Dr. James Lacey MD, CM, FRCSC

Royal College and American Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, with a Fellowship in Hand Surgery

Dr. James Lacey, MD, CM, FRCSC, attended medical school at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Upon graduation, he went on to complete a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal. Dr. Lacey then assumed the role of Hand Fellow and Instructor in Hand Surgery during a one year fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the University of Rochester, New York. Dr. Lacey is also a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is therefore Board Certified in both the U.S. and Canada.

 

Dr. Lacey founded "Barrie Plastic Surgery" in 2000 and went on staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) of Barrie. He has organized a hand therapy program at the RVH that is essential for the treatment and rehabilitation of hand and wrist patients. Currently, Dr. Lacey is forming a Wound Care Program to provide education, prevention, and treatment of patients with wounds. He is also a member of the Women's Breast Health Committee because of his interest in breast reconstruction.

Clinically, Dr. Lacey's interests center on Reconstructive, Hand and Cosmetic Surgery.

He is a member of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, Ontario Medical Association and an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery and American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Lacey teaches medical students and residents through the Rural Ontario Medicine Program (ROMP).
